Seven-day escorted tour of heritage railways across Isle of Man from Douglas

Illustration of The Isle of Man Adventure - September 2026

The Railway Touring Company's Isle of Man Adventure is a seven-day escorted holiday designed for heritage railway enthusiasts. Based in Douglas, a three-star hotel on the island's east coast, the tour takes you on charter journeys on four of the island's working railways: the Manx Electric Railway, Snaefell Mountain Railway, Groudle Glen Steam Railway (a rare narrow-gauge line), and the Isle of Man Railway. The journey begins in London on Avanti West Coast service, with a change to Northern Rail at Lancaster and a ferry crossing to Douglas. Days two and three are devoted to the northern railways and the Great Laxey Wheel, an 1854 waterwheel said to be the largest working example in the world. Day four follows the scenic Isle of Man TT race course by coach to Peel, the Point of Ayre lighthouse, and Curraghs Wildlife Park. Day five offers free time to re-explore the island using the included rail pass. On day six, the Isle of Man Railway carries you to Castletown and Port Erin in the south.
