About
Why this site exists
Rail vacations are sold by dozens of companies that mostly cannot be compared: different sites, different currencies, different ideas of what counts as a train trip. The result is that people choose from whichever two or three brands they happen to find. This site puts the whole market on one set of honest pages.
Best Train Tour is an independent project, unaffiliated with any operator. It takes no bookings and earns nothing from the listings; every trip links straight to the company that runs it. The interesting problems here are data problems: extracting real itineraries, keeping prices honest with verification dates, and saying what a trip actually is, including the parts a brochure leaves out.
How listing, ranking, and verification work is documented in full on how this site works, and the corpus is summarised on the data page.
Corrections are welcome, especially from operators whose trips we list: if a price, itinerary, or inclusion is out of date, the fastest fix is an email to hello@besttraintour.com.
