Bergen to Oslo escorted rail tour on six named Norwegian railways
Titan Travel · Escorted tour
Eleven-day escorted tour from Oslo to Kirkenes by train and coastal ship

Titan Travel's 11-day Norway Winter Wonderland combines two distinct travel experiences into a single Arctic adventure. Depart from the UK with a Titan tour manager by your side throughout, starting in Oslo with a guided city tour and visit to the Fram Museum, home to the world's strongest wooden polar ship. On Day 3, board the Bergensbanen, Northern Europe's highest railway, for a seven-hour journey through snow-covered mountains, icy fjords, and remote alpine villages, crossing the Hardangervidda plateau at 1,222 metres. After a night in Bergen, embark on the Havila Capella, an eco-friendly hybrid cruise ship, for six nights sailing north along Norway's coastline. Cross the Arctic Circle with a traditional ceremony on board, visit the Lofoten Islands where the Northern Lights are visible, and reach mainland Europe's northernmost point near the North Cape. The journey concludes at the Kirkenes Snowhotel, where you will meet huskies and reindeer before returning home. The tour suits escorted travellers seeking winter scenery, Arctic exploration, and guided comfort without demanding physical exertion.
Our nationwide shared chauffeur service collects you from home for your flight to Oslo. Upon arrival, transfer to your centrally located hotel.
We have the whole day to explore Oslo, starting with a three-hour guided city tour including a visit to the Fram Museum, home to the world's strongest wooden polar ship. The rest of the day is free to explore Oslo at your own pace.
After an early breakfast, we set off for Bergen by train on Northern Europe's highest railway, over seven hours through snow-covered mountains, icy fjords and remote alpine villages, crossing the Hardangervidda mountain plateau at 1,222m. On arrival in Bergen, a guided city tour.
Free time this morning to explore Bergen, including the Floibanen funicular and the UNESCO-listed Bryggen wharf. In the early afternoon, we step aboard our Havila ship and begin a scenic voyage north towards the Arctic Circle.
Our ship makes 33 stops along Norway's coastline in total. Today brings an extended stay in Alesund, famed for its Art Nouveau architecture and the 418-step climb to the top of Mount Aksla.
We dock in Trondheim, Norway's former capital, founded by Viking king Olav Tryggvason. A must-see is the Nidaros Cathedral, the northernmost medieval cathedral in the world.
We officially cross the Arctic Circle, marked with a traditional ceremony on board, then head to Bodo before continuing to Svolvaer in the Lofoten Islands, prime territory for spotting the Northern Lights.
We spend time in Tromso, an Arctic city once known as the 'Gateway to the Arctic', and a gateway to Sapmi, the homeland of the Sami people.
This part of the journey takes you as far north as land and sea allow. Options include visiting the North Cape plateau, birdwatching, ice fishing, or trying to catch king crab.
We say farewell to the ship and visit the extraordinary Kirkenes Snowhotel, with a guided tour and a chance to meet huskies and reindeer. The afternoon is free before a dinner at the hotel this evening.
We transfer to the airport and your return flight to the UK. Upon arrival, your vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
