Illustration of Norway in a Nutshell®

Railbookers runs Norway in a Nutshell, an 8-day, 7-night rail vacation that begins and ends in Oslo, with stops in Flam and Bergen along the way. The days follow a mix of city sightseeing and scenic transport: two nights in Oslo start the trip, with a hop-on hop-off bus pass for visiting the city's museums and attractions at your own pace, before an early train from Oslo to Myrdal connects with the Flåm Railway, which drops 2,824 feet on its way down to Flam. Two nights in Flam include a Fjord Safari rib boat ride through the Aurlandsfjord and Naeroyfjord, and an Ægir Viking plank and beer tasting. From Flam, a ferry and bus reach Bergen for two nights of sightseeing with a Bergen Card, before the Bergen Line carries the return journey to Oslo for a final night. The trip suits travelers drawn to fjord and mountain scenery reached mostly by rail and boat, with city sightseeing in Oslo and Bergen set at their own pace.
