Eight-day independent rail journey from Oslo through Norway's fjords to Bergen.

Vacations By Rail's Fjords of Norway operates as an independent, eight-day rail journey starting in Oslo and finishing in Bergen. You travel on your own following a detailed itinerary, with guided city tours and specialist-led excursions at key stops. Day 2 takes a motorcoach sightseeing tour through Oslo, visiting Holmenkollen Ski Jump and Vigeland Sculpture Park. On Day 3, you board the Bergen Railway to Myrdal, then transfer to the Flam Railway, one of the world's steepest standard-gauge lines, descending through more than 20 tunnels and past waterfalls to reach Flam in the evening, where you enjoy a tasting menu at Aegir Brewery. Day 4 brings a small-group fjord safari through Aurlandsfjord and the UNESCO-listed Naeroyfjord, with a stop in Undredal for goat cheese tasting (June through August). Day 5 continues to Bergen by scenic boat or winter coach. Day 6 features a three-hour walking tour of Bergen's historic Bryggen Wharf and St. Mary's Church, followed by lunch and a seafood tasting at the fish market.
