Best of Jungfrau is an 8-day escorted tour from Railtrail Tours based at the Hotel Eiger in Grindelwald for all seven nights, reached by Eurostar via Paris. The week is built around a series of named mountain railways: day 2 takes a cable car to Mannlichen for alpine trails, day 4 rides to Jungfraujoch, described as Europe's highest railway station at 3,454m, and day 5 rides the historic Brienz Rothorn steam cog railway's 'Steam Sausage Train'. Day 6 continues on the 1893 Schynige Platte cogwheel railway with views of the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau peaks, and day 7 visits Thun before a funicular ride up Harder Kulm for a sunset dinner. Day 3 is left free for independent Alpine exploration using an included travel pass. This suits travellers who want a single-base Swiss mountain holiday built around named heritage and mountain railways, with one free day for independent sightseeing.
