Day by day
- Day 1overnight: Edinburgh
Edinburgh
Private transfer to your chosen hotel. Explore Edinburgh: the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, the arts scene, local food markets, Holyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament building.
- Day 2railovernight: Spean Bridge (aboard the Royal Scotsman)
The Royal Scotsman
Departure in the early afternoon from Edinburgh, heading west through central Scotland before joining the West Highland Line at Craigendoran, with afternoon tea and views of Loch Lomond. The train climbs through Glen Falloch to Spean Bridge for the night, with dining and entertainment in the Observation Car.
- Day 3railovernight: Bridge of Orchy (aboard the Royal Scotsman)
Glenfinnan
Journey continues through Fort William with views of Ben Nevis, crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Disembark at Glenfinnan for a local guide's tales at The Old Station Restaurant, or opt for a guided hike through Nevis Gorge to Steall Waterfall. The train loops back to Fort William, then on to Bridge of Orchy for the night with an informal dinner.
- Day 4railovernight: Kilmarnock (aboard the Royal Scotsman)
Mount Stuart on the Isle of Bute
Ferry ride from Wemyss Bay to the Isle of Bute to visit Mount Stuart, a Victorian Gothic house with an impressive collection of family portraits. Return to the mainland; the train resumes to Kilmarnock with a formal dinner en route, overnighting in Kilmarnock.

Homeward bound
Return to Edinburgh, relishing memories of the trip. Private transfer back to Edinburgh Airport, or to your hotel if extending your stay.
