Railtrail Tours runs this 8-day escorted winter rail tour from a single base in Hergiswil, on Lake Lucerne, with an option to travel out and back via Eurostar from London St Pancras. A Tour Manager accompanies the group throughout, and the Seehotel Pilatus is home for all seven nights, so there is no packing between stops. Each day brings a different excursion: the GoldenPass Line over the Brunig Pass to Interlaken and the mountain village of Grindelwald, the Snow Express to Engelberg and the revolving Titlis Rotair cable car, a stretch of the Glacier Express route to snowbound Andermatt, the historic Rigi Railway to the summit known as the Queen of the Mountains, and the Voralpen Express to the pilgrimage town of Einsiedeln. A final free day allows time in Lucerne itself. The trip suits travellers who want a wide range of Swiss scenic railways without repeatedly changing hotels.
