5-day Rome to Venice rail vacation on the Eurostar Italia

Illustration of Rome and Venice

Railbookers operates this 5-day, 4-night rail vacation that starts in Rome and ends in Venice. The first two nights are spent in Rome, with time to see the Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain and a tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, plus evenings for wood-oven pizza and homemade pasta in a trattoria, a casual Italian restaurant. On day 3, the Eurostar Italia train carries travelers across Italy, passing Florence, Bologna and Padova before crossing the lagoon into Venice's Santa Lucia station, where a gondola ride and cicchetti, Italian tapas, await. The final two nights in Venice mix an included walking tour of the Doge's Palace and Golden Basilica with free time to climb St. Mark's Campanile or visit the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. With only one included tour per city and open afternoons and evenings, this suits travelers who enjoy history and local food but prefer to set their own pace between the fixed rail and hotel arrangements.
