Malaisie Sauvage (Eastern and Oriental Express)

Four-day luxury train journey from Singapore through Malaysian jungle and Penang

Illustration of Malaisie Sauvage (Eastern and Oriental Express)

Discovery Trains' Malaisie Sauvage journey is a four-day, three-night all-aboard adventure aboard the famous Belmond Eastern & Oriental Express, the legendary luxury train of Southeast Asia. The train departs from Woodlands station in Singapore and travels through Malaysian rainforest, rubber plantations, and the tiger-inhabited Taman Negara National Park before reaching the culturally rich island of Penang on the west coast, then returns to Singapore. Passengers spend every night in climate-controlled cabins with en-suite bathrooms, sleeping as the train moves through tropical landscape. The itinerary balances time aboard the train, where contemporary Peranakan cuisine is served in two restaurant cars and a piano bar, with optional shore excursions at Penang including Georgetown's heritage quarter, Peranakan cooking classes, or tri-shaw exploration. The trip suits luxury-focused travellers, especially those with prior rail experience, wildlife enthusiasts drawn to Taman Negara's tiger conservation partnership, and couples seeking an immersive, unhurried cultural experience across two countries.
