Railtrail Tours operates this 5-day, 4-night escorted tour based at the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells, in the heart of mid Wales. After travelling by rail from your home station, the tour spends its days riding four named railways. Day 2 crosses the Cynghordy Viaduct on the Heart of Wales Line before visiting Aberglasney Gardens. Day 3 combines the Talyllyn Railway, the world's first preserved railway, with the Vale of Rheidol Railway through the Rheidol Valley to Devil's Bridge. Day 4 explores the historic market town of Abergavenny and the 19th-century Cyfarthfa Castle before a return steam journey on the Brecon Mountain Railway along the Pontsticill Reservoir into the Brecon Beacons. A Tour Manager accompanies the group throughout, with bed, breakfast, dinner, and all admissions included. This trip suits repeat rail travellers and heritage railway enthusiasts who want several named steam lines covered from one hotel base, without arranging their own transport between sites.
