Escorted 10-day Baltic rail tour, Vilnius to Tallinn, three capitals

Illustration of Vintage Baltics 2026

Railtrail Tours' Vintage Baltics is a 10-day escorted tour that starts in Vilnius, Lithuania, and ends in Tallinn, Estonia, with a Tour Manager accompanying the group throughout. After four nights in Vilnius, including a free day and a midday train to Trakai's 14th-century island castle on Lake Galve, the tour moves north by train and coach through Kaunas, the 1899 Aukstaitija narrow-gauge heritage railway near Anyksciai, and the Hill of Crosses on the way to Riga. Two nights in Riga include a train excursion to the seaside resort of Jurmala, before the route continues by train through Gauja National Park to Turaida Castle in Sigulda, then on to Tartu and Tallinn. The days combine city walking tours with regional and heritage rail journeys, and two free days, in Vilnius and Tallinn, leave room for rest or optional rail trips. This suits travellers who want Baltic castles, medieval old towns, and train journeys handled as a group, with some independent time built in.
