Luxury sleeper train Amsterdam to Venice with hotel stays

Tailor Made Rail operates one of Europe's most luxurious train journeys, the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express from Amsterdam to Venice, over six days and five nights. Your journey begins with a direct Eurostar Plus train from London St Pancras to Amsterdam in just over four hours, followed by two unscheduled days in the Dutch capital to explore the Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank's House, the canal system, or simply to wander the streets. On Day 3, you board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express in Amsterdam, settle into your double cabin, and spend your first evening dressed in evening attire for a four-course dinner in the restaurant car while watching the landscape pass. The following morning, continental breakfast is served in your cabin as the train climbs through the Swiss mountains. You arrive in Venice in the evening and transfer to the Ca' Sagredo Hotel for two nights to visit St Mark's Basilica, the Accademia and Peggy Guggenheim museums, or to lose yourself in the narrow streets and hidden squares. This trip suits luxury seekers and couples who value slow, deliberate travel and the romance of a legendary train.
Take a direct train this morning from London St Pancras to Amsterdam. The journey is just over 4 hours and on arrival, you'll be checking in for a 2-night stay at the Hotel Pulitzer (or similar). A cruise along Amsterdam's famous canals is always a good way to get your bearings.
Enjoy a full day at leisure in Amsterdam. This is the perfect city for simply wandering, with all the main sights within walking distance of each other, or hire a bike for the day. The Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank's House, the Rijksmuseum and the National Maritime Museum are all worth a visit.
After breakfast in your hotel, return to the station for your journey aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Once settled into your cabin, make your way to one of the dining cars for a three-course lunch, then get dressed up for your lavish evening meal. Your cabin will be transformed into a cosy bedroom by your steward overnight.
Your steward will serve a continental breakfast in your cabin, and you'll take in the mountain scenery of Switzerland before a gastronomic three-course lunch back in one of the restaurant cars. The train pulls into Venice Santa Lucia station at the end of the journey; take a shared transfer to the Ca' Sagredo Hotel (or similar) for a 2-night stay.
A unique city made up of 118 islands linked by canals and bridges. Visit St Mark's Square with its Basilica, or one of the galleries like the Accademia or the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, and explore the narrow streets and hidden campos on foot.
Time to leave Venice for your return journey to the UK. You can either book your own flight home or ask us to add a return journey by rail via a different Alpine route with a stop in Lausanne or Zurich.
