Tailor Made Rail's Dresden and the Rhineland is an eight-day self-guided holiday linking three major German cities by train from London. You depart Friday on Eurostar, upgrading to German ICE First Class for journeys through Frankfurt, Dresden, and Düsseldorf, with a final leg to Amsterdam before returning to London. The route moves steadily east then west, giving you two to three nights in each city. Day two keeps you in Frankfurt to visit the Römerberg, Cathedral, and Main Tower shops; days four and five are based in Dresden, where you explore the Frauenkirche and Zwinger Palace before taking an independent rail day trip to the forested sandstone cliffs of Saxon Switzerland. From Düsseldorf, you choose between a day trip to Cologne Cathedral or the Wuppertal Schwebebahn suspension railway. All accommodation includes breakfast, and First Class rail is free throughout. This suits independent travellers who want the comfort of booked hotels and rail but the freedom to explore each destination at their own pace.
