Timeless Trams in Berlin 2027

Escorted German tram tour riding ten historic tram systems

Illustration of Timeless Trams in Berlin 2027

Railtrail Tours runs this 9-day escorted tour through Germany built entirely around historic and modern tram systems, starting in Braunschweig and based for seven nights at the InterCity Hotel Ostbahnhof in Berlin. A Tour Manager accompanies the group throughout, and Eurostar travel from London St Pancras can be added to the price. The week opens with an exclusive charter on a vintage 1897 tram in Braunschweig, then moves through Berlin's 22-line network, vintage charters in Frankfurt (Oder), Cottbus, and Potsdam, a depot tour of Magdeburg's vintage tram collection, and two rural tramways through the Berlin city forest. A highlight later in the week is the Strausberg Line's electrically operated Straussee Ferry, described as the only one of its kind in Europe. Breakfast is included daily, with two evening meals. The trip suits travellers with a specific interest in tram history rather than general sightseeing.
