    One of Spain's main cultural hubs, known for amazing art, surreal architecture and vibrant Catalan culture. Highlights: see the Picasso Museum in the Gothic Quarter; spot Gaudi's architecture in Parc Guell; crawl the bars around Las Ramblas.

  2. Day 4railovernight: Madrid

    Madrid

    Train to Madrid (3.5 hours). Attractive tourist spots, tapas bars and clubs. Highlights: visit the Museo del Prado; stroll the Rastro Flea Market; watch a Real Madrid match at the Bernabeu stadium.

  3. Day 6railovernight: Seville

    Seville

    Train to Seville (2 hours). Fierce heat, fiery character, Flamenco dances and cafe/tapas culture. Highlights: visit the Alcazar Palace; experience Flamenco dances; drink on the terraces of an old town cafe.

  4. Day 8railovernight: Faro

    Faro

    Bus to Faro (4 hours). Sand and sun on the Algarve coast. Highlights: relax on the beach; ride the Comboio Turistica tourist train; go on a dolphin watching boat trip or cave tour.

  5. Day 10railovernight: Lisbon

    Lisbon

    Train to Lisbon (4 hours). Picturesque and modest with an enthralling urban landscape. Highlights: learn about Portugal's colonial past; climb cobbled streets to the castle; dance at the Music Box club.

  6. Day 12railovernight: Porto

    Porto

    Train to Porto (3 hours). Parties in the piazzas, the UNESCO Ribeira district and fortified wine. Highlights: cross the Dom Luis bridge; visit old wine cellars along the waterside; drink at quirky bars and cafes.
