Fly to Hanoi from the United Kingdom.
On arrival in Hanoi, you'll be met by a TransIndus representative and escorted to your hotel for an overnight stay. Spend the rest of the day recovering, perhaps venturing out for dinner at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, or to one of Hanoi's famous water puppet shows.
A day tour of Hanoi led by a knowledgeable local guide, exploring the medieval Old Quarter, Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, the 11th-century One Pillar Pagoda, and the Temple of Literature.
Drive to Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for a night cruise past the 1,500 limestone islands and rock formations of the Gulf of Tonkin.
Return to Hanoi to board the SJourney Luxury Train, inspired by the elegance of the 1930s Trans-Indochina railway - 13 cars including 10 sleeping cars (3 bedrooms each) and 2 restaurant cars. Pick-up from your hotel is around 4:30pm, with check-in and a VIP lounge welcome at the station, followed by dinner in the restaurant car around 6pm.
Breakfast is served aboard the train amid towering limestone cliffs. By 8am transition to a sampan on Trang An's UNESCO-recognised emerald waters. Lunch amidst Tam Coc's limestone mountains, visiting Thai Vi Temple and the ancient houses of Co Vien Lau, before returning to the train for dinner en route to Quang Binh.
Disembark in Quang Binh for a visit to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site around 400 million years old, with a boat voyage along the Son River and through Phong Nha Cave. Visit Nuoc Mooc Spring for lunch, swimming or kayaking, with an evening home-style dinner amid rice paddies (optional Vietnamese cooking class).
Explore Hue's imperial past at the Royal Palace of the Nguyen Dynasty, a traditional bronze-casting village, the Tiger Arena and Elephant Shrine. A boat trip along the Perfume River, a stop at the paper flower-making village of Thanh Tien, and an evening visit to the Ben Xuan Garden House.
A bamboo boat ride through water coconut forests en route to Hoi An Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Gourmet breakfast aboard as the train ascends the Hai Van Pass. Afternoon exploring Hoi An's Phuc Kien Chinese Assembly Hall, Phung Hung Ancient House, Tan Ky Ancient House and the Japanese Covered Bridge, before an onboard dinner as the train continues to Nha Trang.
Board the Emperor Cruise for a welcome drink and live music through Nha Trang Bay's limestone islands, a basket boat ride and fish farm visit, and time to swim, kayak or snorkel at Soi Beach. In the afternoon visit Nha Trang Stone Church, Loc Tho Pagoda and Mr. Hai's Ancient House (over 200 years old).
Visit Ta Cu Mountain, a pilgrimage site since the 18th century, and the Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda at its summit. Lunch of local seafood specialties, then the ancient Cham structure of Poshanu Tower before a farewell dinner.
The SJourney rail journey ends in Ho Chi Minh City. Disembark and drive to Can Tho for 1 night on the Mekong Delta River, known as 'Vietnam's Rice Bowl', with the option to visit the floating markets.
Disembark the Mekong cruise and drive back to Ho Chi Minh City to your luxury hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.
A full day tour of Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) led by a local expert, visiting the War Remnants Museum, the Reunification Palace, Bui Vien Walking Street, Chinatown and Ben Thanh Market.
A shared speed boat journey to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an extensive underground tunnel network built by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War, with the opportunity to crawl through sections of the tunnels. Return to your hotel with the evening at leisure.
