Railbookers' Rome, Sorrento, and Venice from Milan trip is a 10-day, 9-night independent rail vacation with included day tours, running in a loop from Milan through Rome and Sorrento to Venice and back to Milan. After an afternoon in Milan taking in the Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a direct train continues to Rome for two nights, including a guided tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Welcome to Milan! Check into your centrally located hotel and get ready for an afternoon of exploring using the Hop-on, Hop-off sightseeing pass. After a relaxed stroll around the archaeological site of the ancient city of Pompeii, take a short hike up to the rim of the volcano to meet a mountain guide and peer into the crater's rim.
Enjoy a final breakfast in Sorrento before meeting your private transfer who will drive you to Naples station to meet your train to Venice. Relax on the train as you travel up north through the Italian countryside – soon to be met by the glistening canals. Upon arrival, make your way to your hotel and check-in for a two-night stay. This morning, make your way to St Mark's Square for the start of your small group tour to the Doges Palace, and mesmerizing Golden Basilica. Following this, it is a guided walking tour through the quieter lanes and alleys, where you will see some architectural gems and historical buildings that are often overlooked by the crowds.
Head back to Milan today on a direct service from Venice for a final one-night stay– make the most of this time to visit any shops or sights you did not yet get to see.
