Great Rail Journeys operates this 9-day escorted tour following northern Spain's medieval pilgrimage route, the Camino de Santiago, from London St Pancras to the Portuguese coast. You travel via Eurostar Plus and First Class rail, staying in three distinctive 4-star Paradors: a 10th-century castle in Hondarribia, a medieval palace in Benavente, and a former Benedictine monastery overlooking the Sil River valley near Santo Estevo. The itinerary connects three cathedral towns central to the Camino, beginning with a guided tour of UNESCO-listed Burgos Cathedral, moving through León with its medieval stained-glass windows, and culminating in Santiago de Compostela at the journey's spiritual endpoint. Along the way, you taste wines at a traditional Ribeira Sacra cellar, cruise the Sil River, enjoy a pintxos dinner in the Basque Country, and receive a Galician farewell dinner at the Parador de Monforte de Lemos. A Tour Manager accompanies you throughout; most meals and all guided excursions are included. This tour suits history lovers, food-and-wine travellers, and those who prefer the comfort of an arranged itinerary without independent navigation.
