Journey to Hondarribia
We meet the Tour Manager at London St Pancras before boarding the Eurostar to Paris in Eurostar Plus class with a light meal served at our seats, then continue by First Class rail to Hendaye on the France-Spain border. We are met by our coach driver and taken to our first Parador hotel, the restored 10th-century castle of Hondarribia, followed by dinner at Restaurante Zeria.
Day 2overnight: Hondarribia
Parador de Hondarribia & pintxos dinner
A free day to explore the characterful town of Hondarribia and the vibrant La Marina neighbourhood at your own pace. This evening we experience pintxos for ourselves, sampling them at different restaurants.
Day 3overnight: Benavente
Burgos Cathedral & Parador de Benevente
Heading inland by coach, we follow the ancient pilgrimage route to Burgos for a two-hour guided tour including entrance to Burgos Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, followed by a tapas lunch. We continue to the Parador de Benavente, once the Castle of Los Pimentel, welcomed with a drink before dinner.

After breakfast we travel by coach to León to visit its cathedral, renowned for its medieval stained glass, including a talk on the symbolism of the Camino de Santiago and a short experience of the Camino walk. Free time follows before we return to our Parador for dinner.

Free time to explore the scenery and town centre of Benavente, a key stopping point for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago, with two historic churches and the Hospital de la Piedad.

We head to the Ribeira Sacra wine region for a guided tour and wine tasting followed by a lunch of traditional Galician cuisine at a historic cellar, then a relaxing boat trip along the Sil River. We continue to the Parador de Santo Estevo, an updated Benedictine Monastery, for a welcome drink and dinner.

A day in Santiago de Compostela
We board a train to visit Santiago de Compostela, entering the cathedral believed to be the burial place of the relics of James the Apostle, followed by free time to explore. We retrace our journey by rail and coach back to our Parador.

Dinner at the Parador de Monforte de Lemos
A free morning, then in the afternoon we visit the town of Monforte de Lemos and its Old Town, with an optional visit to the Galician Railway Museum, before dinner at the neoclassical Parador de Monforte de Lemos. We return to our accommodation at Parador de Santo Estevo afterwards.
Day 9
Homeward bound
After breakfast and a morning at leisure, we transfer by coach to Porto in Portugal, where we board our flight to London Heathrow.
