  1. Day 1overnight: The Taj Mahal Hotel, Delhi

    Delhi

    On arrival at New Delhi Airport, you are met and escorted to your luxurious hotel in the heart of New Delhi. Depending on the international flight chosen, you may have the remainder of the day or night at leisure to relax and adjust to the new time zone.

  2. Day 2railovernight: Aboard the Palace on Wheels

    Delhi

    The day is spent exploring the sights of Delhi before transferring to the station to board the train at 16:00. After a welcome drink in the bar, the Palace on Wheels begins its journey to Jaipur at 18:30. Check-in comes with a traditional welcome of garlanding, tikka and turban, before being escorted to your cabin by your personal attendant. Dinner is served onboard as the train departs Delhi.

  3. Day 3railovernight: Aboard the Palace on Wheels

    Jaipur

    After a royal elephant welcome at Jaipur Station, the morning's sightseeing takes in St. Albert Museum, the City Palace complex and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jantar Mantar, with a stop at Hawa Mahal before reaching Amber Fort, 11km outside the city. Lunch is held in the 1135 AD Boutique Restaurant on the Fort premises, with the afternoon spent exploring Amber Fort and a visit to a local market before returning to the train.

    Sawai Madhopur, Ranthambore National Park, Chittorgarh

    Enjoy an early morning jungle safari in Ranthambore National Park, an outstanding example of Project Tiger's conservation efforts where tigers are more often spotted by day than in any other Indian park, before returning to the train to depart for Chittorgarh at 10:00. The afternoon is spent exploring the grand Chittorgarh Fort, with an evening Sound & Light show at the Fort before returning to the train for dinner.

  5. Day 5overnight: Aboard the Palace on Wheels

    Udaipur

    Arrive into Udaipur this morning. After onboard breakfast, visit the 17th century City Palace complex with its eleven constituent Mahals, balconies, towers and cupolas, and the Crystal Gallery. Enjoy a boat ride around Lake Pichola past the Lake Palace Hotel. Lunch is held at the Fatehprakash Palace Hotel, with time for shopping in the afternoon before a visit to the Royal Gardens at Saheliyon Ki Bari.

  6. Day 6overnight: Aboard the Palace on Wheels

    Jaisalmer

    Visit the desert citadel of Jaisalmer, the 'Sonar Kila' or golden fort, on a half day tour taking in the palace museum, temples and desert havelis including the Patwon ki Haveli. Lunch is at a 5-star hotel, followed by a sunset camel ride at the Sam Sand Dunes in the Thar Desert, then a cultural program and dinner at a 5-star hotel.

    Jodhpur

    A morning tour through the old city's maze of streets towards the hill top Mehrangarh Fort, with its Rajput miniature paintings, armoury and costume collections, followed by a stop at Jaswant Thada and the museum at Umaid Bhawan Palace. Lunch is at a city hotel before returning to the train.

  8. Day 8railovernight: Aboard the Palace on Wheels

    Bharatpur, Keoladeo Ghana National Park, Agra

    Early morning excursion to the Keoladeo Ghana bird sanctuary, home to over 230 bird species including the rare Siberian Crane, before returning to the train to depart for Agra at 08:45. The Agra sightseeing tour starts with the Diwan-e-Am & Diwan-e-Khas inside Agra Fort, lunch at the ITC Mughal Hotel, then a visit to the Taj Mahal. The train departs for Delhi at 23:00.

  9. Day 9railovernight: The Taj Mahal Hotel, Delhi

    Delhi

    Arrive Delhi Safderjung Railway Station at 05:30; check-out from the train starts at 7am after an early breakfast. Met by a TransIndus representative and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay. Spend the day relaxing at the hotel or on a sightseeing tour of Delhi, including the option of heritage walks around central Delhi guided by former street children, run by the Salaam Baalak Trust.
