Guide to Great Rail Journeys' worldwide luxury train holidays

Illustration of Luxury Holidays | Great Rail Journeys

Great Rail Journeys uses this page to introduce its range of luxury train holidays around the world, rather than to sell a single itinerary. It groups together some of the best-known named trains in the business: the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express on its Alpine route between Venice and Paris, the Al Andalus through Andalucía, the Golden Eagle Danube Express across Central Europe, the Rocky Mountaineer in the Canadian Rockies, the Blue Train between Cape Town and Pretoria, Rovos Rail in Africa, the Deccan Odyssey and Maharaja's Express in India, and the Eastern & Oriental Express in Southeast Asia. Each of these is booked separately, with its own duration, route and price.

What to know before you look closer

  • This is a directory of Great Rail Journeys' luxury train holidays across multiple countries, not a single tour: it has no day-by-day itinerary, duration or price of its own. Each named train, such as the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express or the Rocky Mountaineer, is a separate bookable holiday with its own details.
  • No prices, trip lengths or departure dates are given for any of the trains listed here; check the specific train's own page for that information.
