    Collect a hire car and drive north to Pitlochry (around 1.5 hours), perhaps taking in the Wallace Monument near Stirling.

    Explore Perthshire by car, including Queen's View over Loch Tummel, and walking trails to Ben Vrackie or Schiehallion.

  4. Day 4overnight: Inverlochy Castle, Fort William

    Pitlochry to Fort William

    90-minute drive with scenic detours through the Cairngorms National Park, Urquhart Castle over Loch Ness, and the Dalwhinnie Whisky Distillery.

  5. Day 5overnight: Inverlochy Castle, Fort William

    Visit the Ben Nevis Whiskey Distillery, hike around Glencoe or take the Glen Etive road to Loch Etive.

  6. Day 6overnight: Inverlochy Castle, Fort William

    Further day exploring the area beneath Ben Nevis, Britain's highest peak.

    Fort William to Ayrshire

    4-hour drive south through Glencoe and along Loch Lomond to the Ayrshire Coast, with options to stop at the Trossachs National Park, Culzean Castle or Girvan Beach.

  8. Day 8overnight: Glenapp Castle, Ayrshire

    Ayrshire

    Coastal hikes, castle visits, golf, or a ferry to the Isle of Arran or Cumbrae.

    Further day at leisure on the Ayrshire coast.
