Tailor Made Rail's Jewels of Italy and the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is a fourteen-day journey from London to Venice and back, combining First Class rail travel with stays in three of Italy's most celebrated regions. You depart London by Eurostar, pass through Paris, and climb into Switzerland via the TGV before descending to Lake Maggiore for three nights in Stresa. A high-speed Frecciarossa train carries you 550 miles south to Salerno, whence you explore the Amalfi Coast for three nights. You then rise north through Tuscany by Italo, spending three nights in the medieval city of Siena. Days are unguided but documented; you can arrange wine tours or hire a car to tour Chianti and neighbouring hilltop villages. From Venice, the return journey unfolds aboard the legendary Venice Simplon-Orient-Express: you sleep in a double cabin, dine in style through the Brenner Pass and across France, and wake to breakfast before a final Eurostar journey home. The five-star hotels and luxury train cabin position this trip for seasoned rail travellers and those seeking European elegance.
