Railtrail Tours' Highland Adventure is a 4-day, 3-night escorted short break based at the Alexandra Hotel in Fort William. Travellers on the rail-inclusive package take the train to Glasgow, then a private coach along Loch Lomond and through Glencoe to Fort William. Day 2 combines a Loch Linnhe cruise in search of seals and porpoises with a tour and tasting at the Ben Nevis Distillery and a ride on the Nevis Range Gondola. Day 3 is built around the Jacobite Steam Train, which crosses the Glenfinnan Viaduct to the harbour town of Mallaig, passing the Bonnie Prince Charlie monument and Loch Shiel. Day 4 returns along the West Highland Line past Ben Nevis and through Monessie Gorge to Glasgow. A Railtrail Tour Manager accompanies the group throughout, with bed, breakfast, dinner and excursions included. The activity level is described as Leisurely, making this suited to travellers who want two named Highland railway journeys and a whisky tasting without a demanding schedule.
