10-day independent rail journey linking Paris, Munich, and Berlin

Railbookers operates Grand Paris, Munich and Berlin, an independent 10-day, 9-night rail vacation that starts in Paris and ends in Berlin, with a stop in Munich along the way. Travelers spend 3 nights in each city and travel between them by high-speed train, taking a direct train from Paris to Munich on day 4 and a Deutsche Bahn ICE train from Munich to Berlin on day 7. Because the trip is independent rather than escorted, each day is self-guided: the itinerary points travelers to the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and a Seine river cruise in Paris, Marienplatz and Nymphenburg Palace in Munich, and the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag in Berlin, using included hop-on hop-off passes and a Berlin City Card. The trip suits travelers who want to see three major European capitals by rail without joining a group tour and who are comfortable planning their own daily sightseeing. Prices start from $1,149 per person.
Welcome to Paris! When you arrive, check into your hotel and begin exploring the charms of the city. There's the Champs-Élysées, and if time allows, Sacre-Coeur Basilica atop Montmartre for one of Paris' most spectacular panoramas. In the evening, find an authentic Parisian restaurant to enjoy dinner.
Today enjoy the very best Paris has to offer with a skip-the-line tour to the very top of the Eiffel Tower, and a scenic seine cruise. Explore the boulevards and arrondissements with your included hop-on hop-off pass.
Continue to enjoy the famous Hausmaum architecture with your hop-on hop-off pass and visit the Louvre Museum to come face to face with the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, and Nike of Samothrace. Explore the covered passageways of Paris, the flea markets of the Marais, or a crepe and stroll in the Tuileries Gardens.
After breakfast this morning, travel to the Paris Gare de l'Est termini for your highspeed train to Munich. When you arrive, check into your hotel and use your hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tickets to start getting familiar with the city's Bavarian culture and authentic experiences.
After breakfast this morning, visit Marienplatz (the main square) and get a 360 view of Munich from St. Peter's Church or the tower from the medieval Old Town Hall. If you're looking for a great spot to picnic, go to Olympiapark. Spend your evening enjoying some traditional Bavarian cuisine.
Have breakfast and then continue seeing the sights and exploring the city of Munich! Visit the famous Hofbrauhaus am Platzl beer garden, Schloss Nymphenburg Palace, Peterskirche (the oldest church in the city), the Maximilianstrasse, Karlplatz and the Munich Residenz palace.
Enjoy breakfast this morning and then take a highspeed ICE train from Munich into Berlin, the capital of Germany. When you arrive, check into your hotel and immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and experiences of this wonderful destination using your 48-hour Berlin City Card, perhaps starting at the Brandenburg Gate.
After breakfast, continue seeing the sights of Berlin. Go museum-hopping, get a 360-degree view of the city from the Berlin TV Tower, visit the neo-renaissance Berlin Cathedral on Museum Island, or make a trip to the holocaust memorial. Visit the Gedenkstatte Berliner Mauer, the AquaDom, Checkpoint Charlie, and the botanical garden.
Continue discovering the sights of Berlin at your leisure. Another historical site to see is the Reichstag, where the Parliament sits. For dinner, why not try the signature fast food dish in Berlin - curry-wurst - with a final glass (or two) of beer.
Check out of your hotel after breakfast and enjoy any last exploring before continuing your onward journey. If you'd like to extend your journey, contact one of our Rail Experts and they'll make all the arrangements for you.
