Illustration of Expreso de la Robla

The Expreso de la Robla, operated by Railtour Suisse, is a 3-day, 2-night journey that departs from Bilbao and terminates in León, traveling through the heart of northern Spain's Castile and León region. Your accommodation moves with you; the train itself serves as your hotel, eliminating the need to pack and unpack at different locations. Days combine train travel with coach excursions: on Day 1, you board at La Concordia station, Bilbao's modernist Belle Époque landmark, and travel toward Espinosa de los Monteros, pausing to visit the town of Frías and the Tobera waterfall. Day 2 takes you through the Palencian Romanesque region, stopping at villages like Carrión de los Condes and Frómista, which hold among Europe's finest concentrations of medieval Romanesque churches. On Day 3, you reach León and tour its cathedral and San Isidoro. All meals, drinks, excursions, and a multilingual guide are included. This trip suits history enthusiasts, couples, and travelers who prefer guided comfort with meals provided throughout.
