Day train from Anchorage to Seward along Turnagain Arm

The Alaska Railroad's Coastal Classic Train is a single-day excursion from Anchorage to Seward, ranked among North America's top scenic train rides by National Geographic Traveler. Departing in the early morning, the train winds along Turnagain Arm past the dramatic peaks of the Chugach Range before reaching Seward on Resurrection Bay in late morning. Passengers have roughly five hours to explore Seward, choosing from optional shore cruises in Kenai Fjords National Park, the Real Alaska Tour (which includes Exit Glacier and a dog sled ride), or the town's restaurants and shops. The return train departs at 6pm the same evening. A dining car operates throughout the journey, and baggage is handled at both Anchorage and Seward stations.
Depart Anchorage, pass through Girdwood, follow Turnagain Arm to Seward with a late-morning arrival; free time in Seward for cruises or the Real Alaska Tour before the return departure to Girdwood and Anchorage at 6pm.
