Catalonia & Little Trains of the Pyrenees

Eight-day escorted rail tour of Catalonia and French Pyrenees from London

Illustration of Catalonia & Little Trains of the Pyrenees

Great Rail Journeys operates this eight-day escorted tour from London through the Catalonia region and French Pyrenees, beginning with Eurostar and TGV travel into Spain. The group bases itself in Roses, a coastal town on the Costa Brava with two miles of sandy beaches, for seven nights in a four-star hotel. The itinerary balances included excursions with free days: guided tours explore the medieval towns of Girona and Besalú and the surrealist Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, while specialty heritage rail journeys take in the Núria Valley Rack Railway through mountain gorges to an alpine sanctuary and the Little Red Train through Pyrenean vineyards and Cathar countryside. Days 2 and 5 offer leisure time to relax at the hotel or swim and dine on the coast. A UK Tour Manager travels with the group throughout. Breakfast and dinner are provided daily, and all rail, coach, and admission costs are covered, making this a comfortable choice for those seeking guided travel with secure accommodations and minimal planning.

What to know before you look closer

  • The group size can reach 40 people, which may limit spontaneity on free days in Roses and Girona.
  • The Roses Express train on Day 5 is optional and payable locally; it is not included in the package price.
  • Single travellers will need to confirm the single supplement cost, as the evidence does not state the rate.
