Eight-day Balkan rail journey from Belgrade to Bar with coastal relaxation

Illustration of Belgrade to Bar by Train

Regent Holidays' eight-day package combines Serbia's capital with a four-night coastal stay in Montenegro, connected by train across one of Europe's most engineered railways. You fly into Belgrade and spend three nights in the MARK Hotel, exploring the city's St Sava Cathedral and Kalemegdan Fortress on a guided walk, then have unstructured time to visit medieval monasteries in nearby Fruska Gora or explore on your own. On day four, you board either the daytime Tara or the overnight Lovcen sleeper train to Bar, a 475-kilometre journey that crosses 435 bridges and tunnels through 254 passages. The route descends from Serbia's highlands toward the Adriatic coast, with dramatic mountain and river views. After arriving in Bar, you spend four nights at the Hotel Stara Carsija with free days to relax on the beach, explore the fortified old town of Stari Bar, or venture along the Montenegrin riviera to Budva or the Ada Bojana delta. Return flights depart from Podgorica on day eight. This tailor-made itinerary can be customized to suit your interests.
