Beautiful Provence & the Camargue by Rail

Eight-day Provençal rail tour from London via Avignon, based in one hotel

Illustration of Beautiful Provence & the Camargue by Rail

Leger Holidays operates this eight-day rail tour that combines the classic approach to Provence with a fixed base. You travel from London by Eurostar to Paris, then board the TGV to Avignon, where you settle into the 4-star Avignon Grand Hotel for seven nights. Days radiate outward by coach to explore the region's Roman ruins, medieval towns, and natural landscapes. Day two includes a guided walk through Avignon itself, tracing the Palais des Papes and the famous Pont d'Avignon. The itinerary takes you to the walled port of Aigues-Mortes for a barge cruise, the Camargue wetlands to see flamingos and white horses, Arles with its ancient arenas, and the Pont du Gard aqueduct. Two free days in Avignon let you visit museums at no cost or relax at the hotel. The tour suits first-time rail travellers, history enthusiasts drawn to Roman sites and UNESCO heritage locations, and couples who prefer stability to daily hotel changes.
