Huskies & the Northern Lights
Arctic train journey through Norway and Swedish Lapland with huskies and Northern Lights
Regent Holidays
Seven-day Arctic rail journey from Kiruna to Narvik via Abisko.

Regent Holidays operates this seven-day Arctic Circle journey through Swedish Lapland and northern Norway, beginning with a flight to Kiruna and ending with a return flight from Narvik. The trip combines rail travel on the Arctic Circle Railway with stays at three hotels ranging from the award-nominated Camp Ripan spa resort to the four-star Scandic Narvik. Days flow between free time and structured excursions: after leisure days in Kiruna and Abisko National Park to pursue optional snowmobiling or cross-country skiing, Day 3 takes you by train to Abisko, where you ascend by chairlift for a three-course mountain dinner at Aurora Sky Station and a guided northern lights walk. The train journey continues to Narvik with sweeping views of snow-covered fjords and mountains. A husky safari through the Gratangen forest and a traditional Sami northern lights ceremony in a lavvu tent follow. This trip suits couples seeking premium winter experiences, photographers drawn to the Arctic, and travellers who prefer guided comfort with included transfers and scheduled activities.
Fly from the UK to Kiruna in Swedish Lapland, and transfer to Camp Ripan to check in for a two-night stay. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore the beautiful area or to book onto an optional excursion.
The morning and afternoon are free to book optional excursions. There are a lot of activities available in the area from snowmobiling to cross country skiing. This evening, indulge in a sauna spa ritual. Relax and enjoy applying treatments in between trying out the various saunas, steam room, indoor pool and outdoor hot tub.
Take the train along the Arctic Circle railway line bound for Abisko National Park, one of the world's top rated places for watching the northern lights. In the evening, take the chairlift up the mountain for an exclusive, three-course meal at the atmospheric Aurora Sky Station. Join a guided walk after dinner to search for the northern lights.
Today is free to explore the beautiful national park. Perhaps opt to take a walk along the well trodden path down to the frozen lake or head out on one of the many exciting winter activities in the area.
Travel the rest of the way along the Arctic Circle railway line to Narvik. The scenic journey passes through the little ski village of the area and across the border into Norway, with sweeping views through the mountains and along the fjord.
This afternoon, head out on an exciting dog sled tour deep into the forest of Gratangen (operates Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays). Then, warm up in a lavvu tent and sip ceremonial tea, learn about the relationship the Sami people share with nature and the northern lights and experience a traditional northern lights ceremony led by a Sami shaman. Afterwards, an early dinner of traditional stew will be served.
Take a taxi to Harstad/Narvik Airport, located approximately an hour away in Evenes to catch the flight back to the UK.
