    Arrive in Naples, birthplace of pizza, under the shadow of Mount Vesuvius. Nearby: Pompeii and Herculaneum ruins, the National Archaeological Museum, and the Lungomare seafront by Castel dell'Ovo.

  2. Day 2railovernight: Sorrento (2 nights)

    Naples/Sorrento

    1.5-hour train to Sorrento, perched on the Amalfi Coast cliffs with citrus orchards and an historic old town.

    Sorrento/Capri

    1-hour ferry to Capri, known for the Blue Grotto, Mount Solaro chairlift and Villa San Michele.
