Day by day

  1. Day 1railovernight: Kamloops (moderate 3-star hotel)

    Vancouver to Kamloops

    Depart early morning aboard Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops in the British Columbia Interior. Scenery changes from the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the Coast and Cascade Mountains, to the desert-like landscapes of the interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. The train arrives along the shores of Kamloops Lake in the evening.

  2. Day 2rail

    Kamloops to Jasper

    Continue north and east to the mighty Canadian Rockies, following the North Thompson River through the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains towards the Continental Divide. Highlights include Mount Robson (3,954m/12,972ft, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies), Pyramid Falls and the climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park. The rail journey ends this evening in Jasper.
